Beta Progress Update #2
Hi! welcome to the Second Beta Progress Update of Beta 1! thispost will show changes and new things added in Beta 1 between 15th January - 16th February, so, lets dive in! from a Editor Game Changer to Bonus to Bossfights to more!
1) Level Editor.
1a) Level Editor Changes!
Okay, the level editor wont be Overhauled in Beta 1, but i want to upgrade it to a point where it will be easy for players to make nice custom levels, firstly: ( note: the screenshot is a bit outdated )
This is how it currently looks like, the categorization is now much easier by clicking the building blocks button to change category, then click on picked tile block to change block. navigation should be much nicer than the ugly category selector. the character category got removed beacuse i added their own settings for them in character settings!
SETTINGS UI WILL BE CHANGED!
1b) Level Editor Options Update:
Firstly, here,s the old version of level editor, prior to Alpha 7B:
Yeah, no save, only simple options, player size and tile size, nothing special
Well look at how the level editor looks like now Prior to Beta 1.:
Pretty Cool Right? now it has some new settings, like rotation ( fix old exit issues), cursor distance (decides how much the editor block moves per input, fixes issues with small blocks), and expanded settings for player size (Alpha 7B: 50,100. Beta 1: 30,50,75,100), and tile size! (Alpha 7B: 50,75,100,170. Beta 1: 30,50,75,100,170,250) literally, everything in the level editor is expanded! i hope it will help players make decently good levels without any issues. Anyways.
1c) Game Changer! Variant Button!
The level editor object is just 270-300, and i cant do anything to increase it, but, i thought of an idea to make a variant button!
The variant button will work for certain blocks (Building block, bookshelf, table) it optimizes a ton of Objects! when using the variant button with correct blocks, the player can choose 3 different templates to build a floor with, each optimizes from a few to a lot of objects.
EXAMPLE?
Here is an XL detention template i used, it looks like it uses like 14 objects, but NOPE! its just only 1 object! this can speed up the creating process of levels by a ton, and i cant wait for the level editor for it to reach full potential!
2) Gameplay
2a) Thiiiiiiink Fast! Time Limits!
Note: THIS SCREENSHOT IS OUTDATED
Idea from BB+ 0.8, time limits will be in every gamemode, here are time limits for every gamemode:
Floor 1: 3 minutes
Floor 2: 2 minutes
Floor 3: 2.5 minutes
Floor 4: 2 minutes
Floor 5: 2.5 minutes
Floor 6: 2 minutes
Classic Mode, Party Style: 3 minutes
Demo Mode: 2 minutes.
Bonus mode MAP 1 ( F9 ((bonus)) - 3.5 Minutes
IN BB+, i think the player ends with too much time to spare, level 1 time limit is 5 mins, average playthrough is 1 min, Level 2 time limit is 7 min, average playthorugh is 3 min, Level 3 time is 9 minutes, average playthrough is 5 mins, too much! so in my game, average playthrough will only have 30 seconds to spare (30-60sec for BBC modes)
If time runs out, lights dim green,. baldi speeds up, and red tiles start spawning all around the player, sometimes they can block the player,s path, preventing from accessing some paths. and the player cant use items, average player can survive max 1 minute, also note that baldi doesnt speed up from notebooks after time runs out, so if the player is fast enough, the player can survive and beat the floor.
Baldi also speeds up more quickly than in BB+, in just 2 minutes, the player wont be able to survive
Also, in Early February, Time Limits got an Update:
Now, when getting all notebooks, the time limit shows all the time, the colour of the numbers are always white, and now every number of time limits is its own sprite, and Sound Effects Were Added.
2b) Cheat Menu!
Since Alpha 6, The Cheat Menu was planned to be added in Beta 1. and guess what? there you have it! a cheat menu full of options, from Time Limits to Infinite Lives, you can set for the entire game to flash, pass through walls, nobody to harm you, make items never run out, have infinite points, infinite fabibucks, and infinite lives in ultimate mode, you can also set your player speed and baldi speed. you can also add items or enable/disable characters. Here is what the player needs to do access it:
1. Get all keys (except the blue one)
2. the final key, to get it, i reccomend doing all achievments, since you get 96% points to get key from ALL achievments
3. beat final boss, NULL V2. begginer phase and bossfight phase.
4. Go to settings and click button in cheats/others section
2c) Minigame Tab Update!
The Minigame tab section from Alpha 7B looks ugly, so why not update it? the minigame tab section now is an explorable area inspired by the 0.7 BB+ areas, there are some tents and areas, there are 2 clickable objects that let player play minigames. also, the area has fences that lead to more lore, there will be a fun ending where the player dies in the woods from NULL V2 and gets a element of the final key needed to unlock NULL V2 mode. fun, right?
2d) NEW EVENTS
In Beta 1, events are going to be overhauled, firstly, 1 event got deleted, baldi clone, and thats beacuse of the sake of optimizing, but adding new events werent very harmful to file size, so i added new events, 7 of them! there were 3 events back then, now the number increases to 9 events! let me introduce you...
1. Dense Fog
The event is just a harder version of the normal fog event, the player sees less, and it makes it more challenging, it will be introduced in Floor 4 or Floor 5 and above.
2. Teleport Chaos
The event is chaotic, when starts, 15 teleport holes spawn, and anyone who touches them will go to random locations, and the holes will dissapear. fun and chaotic event and will be introduced in Floor 3 and above
3. Black Hole
The event spawns a black hole for 20 seconds and the block hole goes around the map, sucking baldi, player, worm and blocker. fun if not caught and could be a benefit, and not fun if player and baldi get caught in black hole together.
4. Clock Accident
Very minor event. the only thing it does is simply increase or decrease timer by -30 to 30 seconds, it can help, or cause more trouble. will be introduced in Floor 2 and above.
5. Principal Helps Player!
The event makes principal help player by also sending baldi to detention, but still, dont break rules, the principal needs to do its job, and when player is in detention with baldi, it gets real bad. will be introduced in Floor 4 and above
6. Principal Helps Baldi!
The event is the reverse of the previous principal event, if player gets close to principal, the player gets detention, even longer ones. will be introduced in Floor 5 and above.
7. Messy Messy.
The event makes leaves drop and form around the entire map, and dont always use them, they have a random time of dissapearing. this event will be introduced in Floor 4 and above
2e) Floor 6 added to Ultimate Mode!
Before i tell you about it, let me tell you something.
From the very start of Existing of Ultimate Mode, i always wanted the gamemode to have 8 floors when done, In Alpha 2. the gamemode was split into 2 modes, normal mode, having normal gameplay from floor 1-4, and extension mode, having weirder and more difficult gameplay spanning floors 5-8.
anyways, Floor 6 is mostly completed. here,s a small sneak peak:

Yeah, floor 6 has very weird designs
In Extension mode, every level has its gimmick, in Floor 6, the main gimmick is keys. the player needs to collect 5 keys around the map, then the player has to go to the crate machine and exchange keys for a new item, wooden axe. the wooden axe is designed for destroying wooden crates, in other words, the player needs to go to the crate in cafeteria, and use the wooden axe to get the final notebook.
also, if you guys think you can use other techniques to get in there. youre wrong, Sprays dont work, teleports work. but only if you have 2, which cost 150 Crakes (75 each), which just isnt worth it and too expensive to get after 1st floor.
The only way to get the final notebook without wooden axe is by waiting until the Messy Messy event happens, which leaves drop and the player can use to go through them, but the changes of it happening is like 1/100, the teleport chaos can also help player without wooden axe, but the chances of atleast 2/20 teleport orbs be next to together in a specific place, AND be in a postion so player can get the final notebook, and the event has a 1/6 chance of happening ( 0-1 times per game floor ). AND the teleport orbs can spawn anywhere around the map. the chances are so low thats practically unfeasable.
In Other words. get the wooden axe.

Characters: Baldi, worm, principal. 2 UPCOMING ONES SOON REVEALED.
Exits: 4
Notebooks: 6
Keys: 5
Difficulty: Hard.
Items: 2 SPRAYS, DIET SPRAY, ZESTY BAR. Wooden axe.
2f) Mixed Mode Revamp. New Bonus Mode!
Ever since Mixed Mode came out, the gamemode WAS GARBAGE, even ON ALPHA 7B, and i dont want to make a giagantic map with so many features crammed.
Mixed Mode will be Overhauled. with the new Bonus Mode. Here,s how it works:
Firstly, every map is randomly picked, like in Random Mode of BFNSU.
Secondly, All events and most items will be in Every Map. point taken.
Thirdly, if there will be more than one map in the gamemode, the game will continue after winning and another map will be picked.
Fourthly, Bonus mode will try to function like arcade mode, if the player beats a floor, there is 25% the player will get nerfed or 25% chance of baldi get buffed.
Lastly, The Player has Only 1 Life. good luck!
In Beta 1 Prerelease, it will have 3 maps, and 5 maps in the full Beta 1 release.

2g) Neeeeeew items! Grapple! Diet Spray!
The First one is the Grapple, i actually mentioned it in the comments section. when making the grapple, i was aware grapples are overpowered, so i made grapples a more fair item, here are the changes:
Grapple has 3 uses instead of 5, the hook is slower, and the player starts more slowly, but steadily accelerates with speed. The Grappling hook can be found in shop for 100 Crakes or Being obtainable in Floor 1 of Ultimate Mode. It will be a fun item that wont replace other items.
Diet Spray!
The Diet Sprayer is like the normal sprayer, but has a smaller range of affecting characters, The Diet Spray is the NEW cheapest item in the game, costing 7 Fabibucks or 10 Crakes.
the Diet Spray isnt entirely worse than normal spray, beacuse the diet sprays last 45 seconds instead of 20 seconds, so in the right position, the player doesnt need to worry about baldi for quite a long time ( as long as not make baldi rotate to different direction to the one being blocked by Diet Spray )
Also, Sprays got reworked, now instead of making characters slide into a different direction, they get knockbacked.
2h) Floor 1 Map Revamp!
Here,s a preview of the new Floor 1 map.

The Map has new revamped map, which sucked in Alpha Versions. the map acts as a mediocore difficulty introduction to the gamemode, no events, 3 minute time limit. having new (best?) item, and the floor shoudnt be very difficult. i hope players will enjoy!

Characters: Baldi, Principal.

3. Aside from Gameplay!
3a) How to Play Section!
Some players have some problems at the game, and the game didnt have an instruction, until now, the tutorial will explain useful and most important things, such as what items do, how to use items, how to play minigames, controls, what do things do (most), characters, lockers, challenges, more! i hope it will help!
3b) Challenges!
The Challenges in Alpha 7B were a bit fun, but most of them were lame, best one was hiding from principal with chalk, but others were lame, like giant baldi or random slap speed. in Beta 1, this will change, changing purpose of challenges entirely! now challenges act as a much harder version of fun settings modifiers, now there will be 6 new challenges to enjoy with! let me tell you what every challenge does:
1. Gottem Hurry Up! sets time limits to 1 minute
2. Baldi can sprint, baldi will " sprint " under some conditions. being 60% faster.
3. Sctrict Principal! - Principal has extended amount of rules by adding scricter rules, such as eating zesty bars, using defensive items, not being in class when principal is close ( happens randomly )
4. dont have a backpack! - items instantly get used whenever player gets items
5, keep running! - a white square chases the player, if it touches player. the player gets stuck forever ( unless they get detention right after )
6. notebook throwup! - notebooks teleport randomly.
3c) Reskinned Account Section!
In Alpha 7B, the account section looks like grey background with boring buttons, the functioning of Alpha 7B buttons are the same as in Beta 1. except that Beta 1,s account section will have better textures, with green-blue background. detailed buttons, and arrows to pick baldi character. neat right? if you are wondering about my profile, i will use my voice to introduce the player to the account section
3d) Fun Collectible! Quarters!
Inspired by Baldi Basics Mod, my game. Quarters come in 3 types, regular quarters, gold quarters, and diamond quarters. if player has regular 50 regular quarters, it automacilly turns into 1 gold quarter, 50 gold quarters is also exchanged to 1 diamond quarter. the player needs 1 diamond quarter to get the blue key reqired to enter Null V2 mode. 1 diamond quarter is equal to 2500 regular quarters
WAIT a second. 2500 QUARTERS? FOR JUST A 1/5 KEYS? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET THE-
Its not that hard, the blue key with diamond quarter reqirements make you want to progress through the game.
Most of the work you need to do is DO achievments. from doing all achievments, you get 46/50 gold quarters reqired to get the diamond quarter. so its not much of a job, 200 quarters left to get, the player also gets 4 more gold quarters from beating Floors in ultimate mode.
In other words, dont worry about the blue coin, you will get it while progressing greatly, also, since the game isnt easy, every attempt gives 10-15 quarters.
4. Secrets!
4a) present to you... NULL V2!!!
When i was still busy on alpha development, i always planned to have an endgame boss for Beta 1. so here are the results!
these gray circle things are chalks, they are similar to chalk erasers, but the player doesnt need to enter without null v2 knowing, and when hid into them, null v2 walks randomly. also, the player can only store 1 chalk at a time. NULL V2 is a difficult character, in the game, he is almost twice as baldi ( Demo style baldi only 60% as fast as NULL V2, Classic/Party style baldi only 45% as fast as NULL V2 ). there are also less items,there is no teleporter/keys, zesty bar in cafeteria, no tape. the game is just harder, an average playthrough ( before bossfight phase ) lasts 3 minutes.
4b) Bossfight
The bossfight starts with null standing, the music called " 61 - PHANTOMIZED " by haroon plays starts, and by the predrop beat of the song ends, NULL V2 starts charging, it has 40 health, and hittable by the player by going straight to the 99 orbs, which deal damage, the player needs to hit them 40 times to win. the bossfight doesnt have phases, its similar to the NULL OG bossfight, but its now more intense, with attacks going in random places and randomly teleport every 0-15 seconds. and player doesnt need to throw attack, the attack damages NULL V2 right away, the bossfight reqires a ton of luck to hope weapons dont teleport before you get them, and hope that wall blockages dont block you, since more wall blockages will spawn over time, the game eventually goes in 3x speed before ending bossfight, the bossfight lasts 3 minutes, and when finally beating it, the player gets access to the cheat menu.
I will admit, the bossfight is HARD, it reqires luck and precision, and sometimes your run can be ruined in very annoying ways, such as a crosswall blocking you in the near end part of the bossfight. there is also a weird bug where sometimes the player cant go through a part of a faculty room ( the one that the 2 faculty rooms are connected to each other ), however, before you rage, cry, stress out, and say the bossfight is IMPOSSIBLE, let me tell ya, its NOT. i actually verified the bossfight. taking me well over 40 attempts, with the worst fails having 31/40 hits x3, 32/40 hits x2, 33/40 hits, and 34/40 hits. so the bossfight isnt impossible, it still reqires some kind of skillset. GL, guys on it! the bossfight phase should take no more than 4 minutes.
Here are some tips to consider
1. When an attack weapon (99 orb) spawns in rooms and NULL V2 is close, DONT GO TO IT, the teleport cooldown is Randomized, so there is a pretty decent chance it will teleport away when you are about to get it
2. in early parts of the bossfight, Get some stamina when NULL V2 is vulnerable for a second when hitting him ( get pushed back/be much slower )
3. Stamina Tip: DONT USE IT LIKE AN IDIOT, USE IT ONLY WHEN DESPERATE, Stamina is very important in last speed phase, since NULL V2 will be slightly faster than player,s walking speed at the end, and the player will still need to hit NULL V2 8 times, which is important.
4. when a path the player wanted to go is blocked, go to a room, and go around NULL V2 and outrun him. use Stamina in this case,
5) Issues.
5a) File Size + Petition
These are the file size comparisons that dont have set music settings, the first file doesnt have the setting and the second one has, here are the results.
So? the different is very big, so i want to do a voting, should i remove the set music settings to balance the file size, or just leave it?

5b) Bug with Switching Accounts.
So, when i was creating a new menu for choosing, deleting, or changing something into these account, i saw an issue that made account info pages blank, and i completly dont know why. this may result in errors while switching accounts, and this is bad, anyways, here is the code so people can figure out how to fix it:
6) What i still need to work on
6a) Bossfight upgrade/visuals
The Bossfight misses: throwing animations, minor drop visual, upgrade enemy textures.
6b) Editor UI improvements./Elevator
UI settings upgrade, Advanced Settings, Put tile settings into its own menu. Add Multiple Save Files, Full Saving Functionality, add new ultimate mode features so it.
6c) Polishing Ultimate Shop
The Shop misses: Some items to buy, Item store UI.
6d) Other Secrets/Lore
Secrets or lore werent added at all except the bossfight and keys. so it will be in development in works shortly after this post,s release
6e) Minigame update
New minigames need to be added, im planning to add 2 more minigames soon, Chaosy race and Mansion escape.
